My Favourite Tattoo Artists

Welcome back to the blog guys and girls! As I am soon looking to get my next tattoo, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite artists I follow on Instagram. Since I had my first tattoo this time last year in my home town of Huddersfield, I really got into the art of tattooing and they specific styles of certain artists. So here are a few I love at the moment.

Alex Bawn

So I will start with an artist I actually have been tattooed by. Alex works in a studio in Hull, my boyfriend and I travelled and stayed overnight in Hull, just to get tattooed by her. It is quite clear from her Instagram that she has a very clear style and pattern that she is known for. It is almost like a mehndi style with highlights of white. From personal experience I can also say that Alex is so lovely and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. If you look at the main photo of this post, she has done all the work around the lotus flower. Plus if you love cats follow her just for her documenting hers on her story!

Zaya Hastra

Zaya is London based and is very popular for her floral work. She focus’ on black only tattoos. you follow her on Instagram you will find she is a keen yogi and music buff, she also does spots of modelling. She has had celebrity clients that keep returning for her amazing work such as James McVey and Jesy Nelson. Zaya has also recently done a pop up in the London Oliver Bonas.

Gee Hawkes

I found Gee through bloggers such as Sophie Rimmer and Suzie from Hello October, who both trust her to do all their tattoos. I would love to get tattooed by Gee but she is based in Brighton and as she is so popular she only opens her books a couple of times in the year. Gee is a bit more eclectic in her work, yet it is still very clear what her chosen style is, she also focus’ on only black work tattoos.

Joey De Boer

I first heard about Joey when vlogger Alfie Deyes went to his studio to get his first tattoo. At this time I started to really get into fine line tattooing as it looks less harsh and more delicate, so I decided to follow him and don’t regret doing so. The main con about Joey is that he tattoos in Amsterdam so it would take a while for me to be able to get tattooed by him.

Jakub Nowicz

Around the similar time of finding out about Joey, I also found the work of Jakub, who originally started in Germany but is now based in Milan. So again, it would be very hard for me to go and get tattooed by him. I also found out about Jakub through a blogger this time being, Marcus Butler. Jakub is amazing at not only images and florals but he is phenomenal at doing script tattoos.

You will see I have a specific style of tattoo that I like at the moment, so you may not like the same as me but I hope you enjoy finding some new artists and their work. Having tattoos gives me more confidence in the same way a new dress or fresh hair style would do. They also tell a story with little meanings about myself and life, one day I will do a post on my tattoo story.

If you like this post, please don’t forget to like, comment, follow and share!

Instagram: The New Online Shopping Experience

Is the social media platform Instagram becoming the next online shopping phenomenon?

Websites such as ASOS, Missguided and Pretty Little Thing have created a whirl wind in terms of fast fashion and trend building. They deliver what the consumer wants or promotes such products in order to make the consumer think they need them. But will these websites be just a trend in itself as the new direction for shoppers is Instagram.

Today’s young consumer, that would usually purchase from shops such as ASOS, loves the idea of being different and standing out from the crowd. Therefore, finding new, quirky independent stores online is the perfect solution. Owners of these Instagram stores are smart in the way the promote their brand, sending or sponsoring their consumers favorite bloggers or reality stars to model their products. By using ‘minor celebrities’ there isn’t a huge cost and they’re, most likely, always looking for work. These stars post a photo on their Instagram profile including the business’ product and tag their Instagram handle on the photo, this way the future consumer can click on the handle and be enticed into searching through the independent brands own Instagram profile which then acts almost like either a look book or catalogue. “The 16-to-24-year-old consumer is heavily influenced by social channels, such as Instagram, and other stimuli, like reality TV stars,” explains agent and Just Consultancies co-founder Juls Dawson.

Instagram brands could also be compared to the new wave that is ‘bedroom brands’. These so called ‘bedroom brands’ have grown so much they have now been permanent features in retail giant such as Topshop and Footasylum. These brands have created such success through their millennial owners and their modern skill set which includes being ‘social media savvy’. Young shoppers get bored waiting for the next runway copy to reach a physical retail setting, nowadays they don’t make time to ‘go out and shop’. Business owners know that you have to research where their target consumers spend most of their time to find out the ideal place to promote their products. In 2018 the guaranteed place that anyone can find a young person aged 16-25 is on a mobile device, online, on a social media platform.

Putting experimental or new lines on Instagram or a feature offered by the app called ‘Insta-stories’, is a method in which the brands can post a temporary image or video online which enables consumers to give the brand feedback before the collection becomes permanent. This performs as a positive for the brand as it can save them money, in case they make a product that won’t sell but it can also build up suspense for a consumer driven product that was given affirmative assessment.

Missy Empire and Oh Polly are two womenswear brands that are crowning examples of the now renowned ‘Instagram store’. They’ve had bloggers such as Sarah Ashcroft and Polly Marchant and reality stars such as Love Islands Oliva Buckland and Kady McDermott all model and share photos in their garments. This trend is not only with womenswear but with menswear and beauty. But for future entrepreneurs in fashion, soon the only path to be successful is Instagram.

2018 Make-up Bag

Welcome back everyone, hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year and that you’re ready to make your 2019 amazing! So, for my first post of the year I decided I was review the main products that have been staples in my make-up bag for 2018. Maybe you haven’t heard of these products and choose to look into them or you’ve tried these products and already decided these aren’t for you, these are just the products that work for me and that I personally love.

Brows

I am going to introduce these products in terms of application. I always do my brows first! I use three different products for my brows, which may seem excessive and it is! You don’t need all of these products but each step just adds a little bit extra when don’t have much hair on your brows to work with. But I will 100% say, Benefit cosmetics do the best brow products out there! So first I use the Benefit 24hr Brow Setter which does what it says on the tin, it just sets your brows where you want them and they don’t move for the rest of the day. Next to get some shape, I use the Benefit Preciesly my Brow Pencil – in the colour 4 which i just outline round my brow and then put some colour in my brow so it’s all blended together. I do this by drawing brow hair strokes throughout the brow to make it look fuller. After this I use the Benefit 3D Brow Tones in colour 2, now this is the most unnecessary stage but I do it anyway. So with this I just brush through my brows to add some more colour to them, as with the pencil it colours the skin between the hairs, this product colours the hairs to make them look a bit more natural.

£21.50
£20.50
£21.50

After my brows I conceal underneath them just to make the shape sharper, I then continue to conceal the rest of the eye to make a blank canvas for the eyeshadow. Then I would set the concealer with my lighter face powder or a light coloured eyeshadow. I will explain about these products later in the process.

Eyeshadow

So I didn’t find my favourite staple eyeshadows until late in 2018 but they are the best I have used, they’re not the cheapest but definitely worth it! Now that Beauty Bay have started stocking Melt Cosmetics I had to get my hands on one of their products, so I was gifted the Rust Stack and it is amazing for everyday! So it is full of the ideal colours for a blended brown gradient eye, perfect for the everyday. I start with the shade Antique and Rubbish and use the window wiper technique to blend out from the crease. Then I add Rust to the outer corner as well as Rott to create depth and a cat-eye like shape. After I have done my skin makeup I will also blend some of Rubbish and Rust underneath to make the perfect smokey eye!

£48.00

If I am going out for drinks or a meal I will add a little bit extra to my eyes, and extra always means a bit of sparkle! So if I am using my Rust Stack I will keep to my warm tones and use a bronzy or golden glitter. I like to use either MAC pigment in Tan or the Iconic London Pigment Palette. With these I just spray my brush with either Mac Fix Plus or something similar to dampen the product to make it stand out more than it would on its own. I place this in the inner corner of my lid to enhance that cat eye shape I love. If I want to add some colour I love the Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in Grapefruit Pink. (I want to buy so many more colours as they are amazing!)

£16.50
£6.00
£45.00

Liner

I don’t always wear winged eyeliner as it takes longer for me to do my makeup. But this is the one product I have not changed since I started doing winged liner, it is the Maybelline Line Refine – Liner Express. Now don’t get me wrong my liner may look half decent but my secret to good winged liner is make-up wipes, draw what you want with the liner for the wing then create the shape you want by cleaning it up with a make-up wipe.

£4.99

Mascara

I am not too fussy with mascara because I have rubbish lashes that in my eyes no mascara can salvage for more than 10 minutes. But my favourite one so far is Benefit Big Gal Bang, it clings to my lashes well and is really hard to get off so it holds a bit better than others. If you’re on a budget I also use L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara which does the job.

£10.99
£22.00

Foundation

Now on to skin, I do use primer sometimes but I like to use expensive primers so when you’re a skint student intern like myself you save what you can! I am on my third or fourth bottle of this foundation so you can tell I love it! My favourite foundation of 2018 is the YSL All Hours Liquid Foundation – my shade is BD45. It is full coverage but not drying in the slightest, they also have really nice undertones and it doesn’t move all day!

£35.00

Concealer

My favourite concealer is actually a dupe of an American concealer I always wanted to try and still do, which is called Tarte Shape Tape. The concealer I use is supposed to be just as good, so I thought I’d try it and now I love it and have re-purchased many times, it is Make-up Revolution Conceal and Define Liquid Concealer. Concealer is a big must in my make-up bag especially when I am tired, this one is full coverage, hydrating and has a huge shade range. Even better it’s only £4!

£4.00

Powder

I have two powders that I use in my daily routine, I use lighter powder for where I concealed and for mainly setting under my eyes. Then I use a powder close to my foundation colour for the rest of my face. So the lighter powder I like to use is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in the shade Fair, it is a pressed powder that is so finely milled that it doesn’t clump on the skin or change the colour of anything, it just enhances the lighter parts of the face. The second powder I use is the MAC Mineralised Skin Finish in Medium Plus, this just sets the rest of the face so it is ready for other powder products such as bronzer.

£25.50
£34.00

Bronzer and Contouring

For someone that doesn’t know much about make-up and the uses for different products bronzing and contouring may seem like they do the same thing, oh how wrong they are. So first I bronze my cheek bones, top of the forehead and my jawline to warm up the face, the bronzer I use is the L’Oreal Paris Back to Bronze. I first used this as I needed a cheaper alternative to a high end bronzer but I just found that it works just as well. After this I contour which goes in the same places as the bronzer but it just adds more poise and dimension to the face, if you don’t know how to contour there are many YouTube videos that go through it step by step. For contouring I use the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contouring Palette, but it is very pigmented so a little goes a long way.

£37.00
£8.99

Blusher

I used to hate blusher and would hide away from using it, until I found out you don’t have to buy a bright pink shade. I like to used warm toned, peachy shades, light a pinky version of my bronzer so it blends well. This is why I use the sister to the L’Oreal bronzer, the L’Oreal Life’s a Peach Blusher. It is the perfect shade to add a youthful hint to the make-up but not stand out so much that you look like you’ve just stepped out of the eighties.

£8.99

Highlighter

My favourite part of my make-up is applying highlighter, I want to glow up to the gods, it just brings my make-up alive! So I won’t have a pathetic highlighter that is patchy and doesn’t show up, that is not even an option! I use Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop. All Becca highlighters are amazing, they are not the easiest to purchase as you can only get them online or in Space NK. I apply this highlighter on the tops of my cheek bones as well as my tear duct, nose and cupid’s bow.

£16.00

Lips

On the everyday I just tend to use a lip balm as my favourite lip products don’t tend to stay all day and for work I don’t want to waste good lip products. But some of my favourites are Marc Jacobs – Le Marc Lip Creme in Fawn Over Me, it is a liquid lipstick but it almost acts as a opaque gloss. The second one I love is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss in Toffee, I never used to like lipgloss until I tried this, it is the most beautiful 90’s inspired colour. Now, don’t get me wrong it’s really annoying when you have long hair in the wind with this gloss but it’s worth it! In terms of a liner and lipstick, you cannot beat MAC, I love the lip liners Oak and Spice with the lipsticks Peachstock, Velvet Teddy and Jamie Genevieve’s collaboration lipstick. I realise that all these lip products are on the nude spectrum, but you can’t go wrong with a nude!

£17.00
£24.00

Setting

I would only set my face with a spray if I was going to an event or night out. For this there is only one product for the job and that is Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. But this year I really want to try one of the glow sprays from either MAC or Iconic London.

£24.00

So that’s, that. It may seem like I lot but for a make-up fanatic it’s really not, trust me! I hope this has helped if you needed some advice on some amazing products to add to your make-up bag, or maybe you just fancied being nosey that’s all fine! These are the products I used for my New Years Eve make-up look which you can find on my blog and my Instagram. “The Good Crowd”

Hi everyone, hope you are well and not stressing too much about the your Christmas shopping! This week, after spending some time with and missing some of my favourite people, I decided I would write about surrounding yourself with people that make you happy, especially around the festive season.

Since it’s coming up to Christmas and New Years Eve I thought I would talk about how important it is to be happy at these times and to help this you need to surround yourself with the best people. First, think back to some of your favourite memories, got it? I bet they involved some of your favourite people and it wouldn’t be the memory you remember without those people. Am I right?

Jim John, an American motivation speaker stated, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” With this in mind, you should think about the people you’re spending time with the same way you think about what you eat and how you’re exercising. It’s important to note that “good” does not mean similar or loads in common. Too much of the same thing can hinder self growth. You want to have diversity and healthy debates.

Remember that like attracts like. You have to give off positive vibes and be confident. You also have to be yourself! (the most important) This will lead you to the people that are right for you. You may also need to practice forgiveness, obviously when nessesary. Resentment only breeds bitterness and unhappiness, and it’s time to let the negativity go. When you’re surrounded by good people, you’re surrounded by a good life. You’ll be less stressed and find more joy in daily things.

On social media the saying ‘hard times, reveal true friends’ is frequent, even though it comes round as much as a sofa sale advert, so you’ve had enough of hearing it, it is often true. When you’re down or need a shoulder to cry on, the best people will be the selfless influence you need to be that uplifting guidance to regaining your happiness. They will be the one to help you see a different perspective on a situation yet will always be on your side.

Now, not at any point am I saying you should be dependent on the other people around you to make you happy. You are in charge of your own happiness and positivity. It is just makes everything so much better if you can have people around you to help give you that support and boost. If I had to pick one piece of advise I’d hope to give the readers of this post is, sometimes you have to be selfish, when it comes to special events such as birthday’s and festivities surround yourself with people who you love, love you back and will make your time with them worth while. When you realise how much this can changes your mood and feeling towards that specific event you can apply it to the rest of your life.

Instead of a quote this week I would like to say thank you to all my friends, family, parents and boyfriend for all the support, laughs and times to remember and reminisce. I love you all and try to show how much I appreciate you all as much as I can.

Music to Empower

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! I hope you’re all well and feeling festive. As I did a post last week on confidence, and now that its so dull and dark outside I thought I would continue and share with you the songs that I listen to, to empower me. Whether it is because I have woken up in a miserable mood or I need that extra ‘look at me’ glow before a night out, this is what I have been listening to this month.

Now we all know what a female icon Ariana Grande has been lately. She has been through some horrific events that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy such as, the Manchester bombing event last year as well as the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.  Yet she never seems to lose face, she is still the self confident queen that takes no rubbish from anyone. She is in the press a lot for her latest music video for ‘Thank u, next’, which is her role playing some of her favourite female protagonists from some of the most well known chick flicks from her teen years. However this is not the empowering song I have chosen, as I don’t have any exes this song doesn’t apply to me but if you have had an interesting journey including ex-boyfriends this could be the song for you. The two songs I love from Ariana Grande’s album ‘Sweetener’, are ‘God is a Woman’ and ‘Successful’.  The video for ‘God is a Woman’ is said to be “packed with symbolism, unusual imagery, and unapologetic sexuality, all of which combines into one unique package encouraging female empowerment.”  This is one of the reasons this is one of my picks for my favourite empowerment songs. Now, when you first listen to the song ‘Successful’ it does sound like she is just bragging, with the chorus lyrics being “It feels so good to be this young and having fun and be successful”. But when asked on twitter what the song was about Ariana replied “girls feeling good ab their own individual success / celebrating each otha / flexin n shiiiit !” So she has actually created this song to empower, so use it for what it was made for!

My next empowering artists are the girl band Little Mix. So, these girls have been given a lot of criticism due to their ‘scantly clad dressing’ and if they wish to be role models for young girls, they shouldn’t be wearing what they are wearing. But their girl power morals are concrete and nothing will stop those ladies doing what they want. They believe in themselves and what they stand for which is strong, independent women (or men). The empowering songs I have chosen from Little Mix are from their latest album LM5 and they are ‘Woman Like Me’ and ‘Wasabi’. The most well know song from the album is ‘Woman Like Me’ which is a collaboration with American, female rap artist Nicki Minaj.  The group said they were forced to make this song because they felt there currently aren’t “enough places to celebrate women”. Opening up about the music video on Instagram, Little Mix member Jade wrote: “Say 👋🏽🖕🏽👋🏽 to the stereotypes of how women should behave. She then added: WARNING ⚠️ Little Mix are wearing leotards in parts of this video. The exposure of thigh and their ability to dance comfortably in their chosen choice of clothing may offend some.” The song outlines how the girls feel like they are being punished for being themselves and that a woman’s worth can never be measured. Listening to this song, makes you want to be as badass as these girls. The other song that empowers me is called ‘Wasabi’, first of it was just the beat and rhythm of the song that made me feel sassy and confident, as it feels like the song should be on the catwalk of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. But once I started to become more familiar with the song, I found that the lyrics are the most confidence boosting feature of the song. A lot of the lyrics highlight how the girls take on the comments from all the negative press and internet trolls and how they don’t care and almost convert it into a way to fuel their self confidence. An example of this is “I can feel you hatin’ on me, Ooh, baby, ooh, (yeah, you), I’m glad to be your inspiration, Who, baby, who’s (guess who), The topic of your conversation: I am (I am)” After listening to this song I agree with their message, as you will never stop getting negative comments from someone, not everyone is going to like you and you will never please everyone, so why should you let that bring you down? Exactly, you shouldn’t! Take their advice, embrace it and convert the negative to a positive.

At the moment they are my four favourite empowering songs. Anyone that knows me, knows that Perrie Edwards from Little Mix and Ariana Grande are my absolute #womancrushes and this is one of the main reasons why. They are empowered women that empower women. These are just a few frequent songs, I love music from later decades so if you liked this post I would love to do a throwback empowering songs because there are so many inspiring artists that have and do exist that brought out songs previous to this year. Let me know! But the real reason I wrote this post is, I just hope these songs empower you with confidence, like they do me. I am creating a playlist on Spotify at the moment, called ‘Empower Me’, so if you want to see how that turns out follow me on Spotify @jlcampbell1402

My Love of Make-up

Welcome back to @thejessediton, this post will outline the reason make-up means so much to me and why I see it as part of my personal identity. This post will also slightly go into a subject that will be covered on my blog occasionally, which is mental health, I won’t go into in to it in depth but just touch on it’s relevance.

For an on looker, someone who wears a heavy full face of make-up on a daily basis, would automatically be seen as vain or self confident. After reading this post, if you are one of those general on lookers, I hope to change your mind that this isn’t always the case.

As a bit of context, from a very young age I have suffered from under confidence and in the last 8 years, anxiety. In every school parents evening I would get told I needed to believe in myself more or get more involved in class activities. Over the past few years I have gained a great amount confidence and conquered a lot in terms of my anxiety, and this is all due to finding ways to battle the demons in my head in a way that works for me. Anyone that knows me now, knows that I am very self confident and proud of who I am and the personal journey I have been on. One thing that has helped me do this is make-up. Sound strange? Read on and hopefully you’ll understand and appreciate make-up is more than stuff you put on your face.

In a strange way I have used make-up as my meditation. When I am ever stressed, anxious or uneasy I will go upstairs, sit in front of my mirror and get creative with make-up. I wouldn’t be going anywhere or need to do my make-up for any other reason whatsoever, but thats when I could do my most creative looks. Whether it be bright blue eyeshadow or releasing my inner rock chick with a black lip. I wasn’t going anywhere so I could experiment with ‘wilder’ looks. There was something about having something to focus on and distract my mind with that just relaxed me. So if I had a stressful day ahead of me including an event that I was anxiously anticipating, I would get up a bit earlier, sit and take the time to put my make-up on leisurely in the morning to start my day off in a way that I would proceed into the day calm and prepared for whatever came my way.

A dark, black and purple  halloween look I did, but never left the house in.

It could also be said that make-up is just a mask to hide behind and cover facial insecurities. In my eyes, that is such a negative thought that doesn’t need to exist. To me, my make-up is my warrior paint, that little extra thing that helps me charge into the day as if nothing can stop me. That small difference that makes me hold my head that little higher, take that bigger stride and smile more. Once I put my winged liner on before a night out, I’m ‘smizing’ through the evening as if I’m Tyra Banks. If this isn’t a reason for me to put on a full face of make-up whenever I feel necessary, I don’t know what is?

Can you ever be over dressed or under dressed with your make-up? The no make-up, make-up look was created due to this query. People wanted to look nice, with a even skin tone, wide eyes and the perfect brow but without looking like they were wearing a lot of make-up. Everyone has had that situation in their life once, when you would make that little bit of extra effort one day and then a family member or colleague would turn around and say ‘well don’t you look glam!’ or ‘who you trying to impress?’, it can almost sound patronising that you start to feel self conscious. So people have now tried to create a look using make-up to make you look as if you’re not wearing any. A lot of men state that they prefer the ‘natural look’ but they also say that the most attractive quality in a woman is her confidence. Can you have both, because not everyone is blessed with the perfect morning face? So, if I’m nipping into town in some leggings and a t-shirt, I shouldn’t wear a full face of make-up because it is seen as  inappropriate for the situation and attire, but if I get to put a little bit on to give me that confidence in case I run into someone I know, that’s enough warrior paint for me, because every little counts.

My attempt at a no make-up, make-up look.

Another thing that I love about make-up is the fact, it became something I was known for. On a night out, my friends couldn’t do their make-up without my help and even though it added extra time on to getting ready I loved that they trusted me and liked what I did. You could tell it gave them that little boost of confidence which I also appreciated. At university, one of my lecturers loved my make-up so much she kept telling me to start a blog or YouTube channel, I’d get a compliment nearly every day. I was always slightly above average at school but I never found my niche, it made me start thinking I may have found it. I have always wanted to be able to draw, I am atrocious on paper, but somehow I can paint my face and don’t get me wrong I’m no artist but apparently I’m not half bad!

My love for make-up and the way it makes me feel has always been quite difficult for me to communicate to people who haven’t suffered for anxiety, or low confidence, or to non beauty lovers but if you are one of those people I hope I have done it in a way that is easy to understand. If you have low confidence or anxiety but make-up isn’t for you, try to find your niche, something that you can take you away from the hectic world and focus your mind on something that makes you relaxed and happy. Take that time to do something that makes you feel good about yourself and gives you that extra confidence to make you go out and smile. Your happiness is the most important thing and if you’re happy, the people around you are too!

‘Give a woman the right make-up and she can conquer the world’ Charlotte Tilbury

My Favourite YouTubers

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I decided to write about one of my favourite pass times, watching YouTube videos. I watch YouTube videos when I do my make-up, when there is nothing on TV, to relax or just to pass the time. My favourite type of videos to watch are fashion, beauty, travel and everyday vlogs. So if you wanted some recommendations on who to watch, here is my guide to what I like to watch.

Fashion

In terms of fashion I prefer to watch hauls. Hauls are videos that YouTubers create to show you if products are worth buying from a certain shop or what is new in that season from a certain shop. They can also be event or situation appropriate such as ‘Summer Holiday Haul’, YouTubers could also just decide to do a haul based on things they have decided to buy for themselves.

Screen Shot 2018-11-18 at 21.43.24HelloOctober

Suzie is a Brighton blogger with nearly 500,000 subscribers and 245,000 followers on Instagram. Her style could be described as ‘monochromatic chic’, with her staples being a  leather jacket and designer trainers or stylish heeled boots. Suzie is known for her fashion hauls which often include shops like Topshop, Zara and ASOS. If you appreciate neutrals and classic base colours she is the YouTuber for you. She also has a good balance between luxury and high street, as we all like something to aim towards but its better for a student like myself to also watch something being styled that you can actually afford. Something to look forward to: Suzie has mentioned she may be doing Outfit-mas, so keep an eye out on her channel from the 1st December!

Sarah AshcroftScreen Shot 2018-11-18 at 23.36.11.png

Sarah is better known as a Instagrammer but she has recently started uploading more on her YouTube channel. She has nearly 150,000 subscribers and 929,000 followers on Instagram. Sarah is my go to YouTuber for going out clothes and cosy lounge wear, she is more well known for cheaper online shop hauls such as Pretty Little Thing and Misguided. A key thing with Sarah Ashcroft is that she doesn’t mind showing a fair bit of skin. So if your feeling a tad cheeky and confident she is your girl for inspiration! She is not afraid of trying different colours, styles and trends, even though she has her iconic style, she is very eclectic with her seasonal choices. One thing that is so annoying about her is that she can make joggers and a t-shirt look so extremely fashion forward it is almost unattainable. Need an outfit for a night out to your next airport trip look up Sarah Ashcroft! Something to check out: love her style? Find her collection on http://www.inthestyle.com

Beauty

When it comes to beauty I love to watch YouTube videos on products I am thinking or going to purchase whether it’s worth my money or not or to see if there is something better I could buy. If I run out of something in my make up bag I will often search ‘best highlighter’ and see what people have to recommend, as beauty YouTubers tend to get a lot of PR so they try literally every highlighter worth trying on the market.

If anyone knows me, Jamie is my queen! She is a Scottish Youtuber from Glasgow and an icon of the warm, grungy, smoky eye. If you’re a fan of the glow Jamie is the beauty guru for you! She has 723,000 subscribers and 1.1million followers on Instagram. She is a brand favourite of popular beauty brands such as MAC, Urban Decay and NYX Cosmetics. Known for gorgeous glam makeup with a rock chick edge, she excels in flawless skin and a luscious nude lip combo of liner, lipstick and gloss. I also love watching her as she is a good teacher of technique yet she does not take anything too seriously and constantly makes you smile. Due to this reason I also love watching her vlogs every week, her and her fiancé Jack are so entertaining and just what I want to watch on a dull Sunday evening. Love make-up, tattoos and big hoops? Me too, you need Jamie Genevieve in your life! What you’ve missed out on: She has brought out her own lipstick with MAC Cosmetics and she has collaborated with Cult Beauty on her own beauty box! (I have both! Can you tell I’m obsessed?)

Screen Shot 2018-11-18 at 23.36.54.pngTati Westbrook

Tati is a committed YouTuber she uploads everyday! If you want a product you’re thinking of purchasing reviewed, you need to check her out. Tati is an American YouTuber so not everything she reviews we can get here in the UK but she makes her reviews so entertaining you watch them anyway. She has nearly 5 million subscribers and 1.5 million followers on Instagram. My favourite videos that she does are her PR unboxing videos, in which her husband, James, features. As a pair they could be a comedy act sometimes. From luxury to the dollar store or metallic masks to magnetic lashes she tests and reviews EVERYTHING! But the best thing about Tati is she is honest about anything she reviews and you can tell as she has been taken off PR lists of some big cosmetic brands as she didn’t give their products rave reviews. Want someone honest and hilarious to watch? Subscribe you’ll get a treat everyday! Something to look out for: She does giveaways after every PR unboxing with items she already has or doesn’t need. Some amazing giveaways include Natasha Denona palettes!

Travel or Everyday vlogs

I think I like to watch vlogs due to the fact I’m just quite nosey! What I also like about vlogs is that it is so much more informal in comparison to what is referred to as a ‘sit down video’. In terms of travel vlogs, you get to experience amazing places that you perhaps wouldn’t get to go to in your life time, even though it is from behind a screen it is still a sight to behold!

Screen Shot 2018-11-18 at 23.37.27.pngZoe Sugg

Everyone who is anyone knows who Zoella/Zoe Sugg is! She is one of the best known YouTubers in the UK and for good reason. Her vlog channel has 4.8 million followers, but her main channel has nearly 12 million subscribers! She also has 10.4 million Instagram followers! I enjoy Zoe doing the most mundane tasks such as organising her kitchen and going to the supermarket, somehow she makes it so hypnotising to watch. If there is a Zoe vlog in my subscription box it is a priority to watch and I will not miss it. One of the best things about her vlogs is that through watching you feel like you are a part of her life and you meet so many people involved in it such as, her boyfriend Alfie Deyes (Pointless Blog), her brother Joe Sugg (Thatcher Joe) and her best friend Mark Ferris (markkyferris). If you want to lighten up your day watch a Zoe and Mark vlog, their seasonal Home Sense trips and carpool karaoke actually makes me laugh out loud! She is a true girl boss, having her own beauty and lifestyle brand as well as being a blogger and author. Check this out: Her brother Joe is on Strictly Come Dancing this year!

The Perkins

Screen Shot 2018-11-18 at 23.37.48.pngThe Perkins are a married team including Desi and Steven Perkins. You may know Desi has an amazing beauty YouTuber with 3.8 million Instagram followers, who I love! But I really love their travel vlogs! The Perkins YouTube channel has 392,000 subscribers and they film mostly their brand trips. Brands take influencers on wild and luxury trips to mainly launch new products in which the influencers go to literally what would be considered paradise and do the most amazing activities. They also film friend trips with their ‘squad’ which also includes beauty Youtuber Katy and her husband John. Steven edits all Desi’s videos so he is very technically handy, which is evident in their vlogs they look so professional and some of his drone shots look phenomenal!  The best thing about their vlogs is the relationship between everyone in them. Desi and Steven are real relationship goals they are equally supportive and hilarious, but the true love is between Katy and Desi. If you have a best friend that you have no boundaries with you will easily be able to  relate, trust me! If you want a serious laugh: Watch ‘Get lit with us’ with Katy and Desi!

Now these are just a taste of some of my favourite YouTubers, if you would like a deeper look into each of the categories of YouTubers, let me know! If you’re starting to watch YouTube or just need to refresh your subscription box, I hope these recommendations help!

Love Jess x

Why @thejessedition?

Who is @thejessedition?

My name is Jess, if you couldn’t guess. I am 20 years old and a Fashion Communication student and PR intern, with a love for anything YouTube and blogging. So, I decided to make my own, YouTube will be later on in the line(hopefully).

Why did I start @thejessedition?

I started @thejessedition as a way of expression. I have a passion for beauty and fashion in a way that not all my friends do. I will be talking about the Morphe 35F palette and they will be thinking I’m into some sort of strange weapon fad. So this way I can communicate my loves, hates and general thoughts with people who are interested in the same things that I am. In addition to this I just like to go on about absolute rubbish, so this blog will act as a channel to help me vent about god knows what!

Why did you call it @thejessedition?

The name came quite spontaneously. I have a constant guideline in life that everything I do has to be a little bit different to everyone else, or in other words limited edition. I believe that there is only one you and that is what makes you special, so we all are limited edition. These thoughts merged to create the name ‘thejessedition’.

Keep updated on my Instagram – @thejessedition

Don’t be like the rest of them darling!— Coco Chanel
